Tips for working low-waste at home
In times of Covid-19, telecommuting has become the new norm. People are being asked to work from home as much as possible, but how do you do it low-waste? Low-waste is a concept that makes you as aware of waste as possible and encourages you to waste less. Use these tips for your first steps toward a low-waste lifestyle while working from home!
Tip 1: Move your desk
Make use of the sun as a light source as much as possible. Move your desk to your windows so that the sun can illuminate your workspace during the day. This will make you less likely to have to turn on your lights. Switch to LED bulbs if you should still have to turn on your lights.
Tip 2: Reduce your paper use
You can reduce your paper use in several ways.
At first, try to print only when really necessary.
Another way is to use an online calendar and online notes. There are all kinds of apps for that, think Evernote or Google Calendar.
Tip 3: get rid of disposable plastic
Use a drinking can or carafe and fill it with tap water each time. This eliminates the need to buy PET bottles and does both your wallet and the environment a favor. Is your tap water not ready to drink right away? Then purchase a water filter to purify it.
Tip 4: delete your recycle garbage can
A slightly odd tip you might think at first, but there is a logic behind it. By no longer putting your trash at your desk, you will start to think more consciously about what you throw away. The trash won't just disappear from your desk, you'll be confronted with what you're throwing away and whether you needed it in the first place.
Tip 5: Make sure your workplace is clean
As often as possible, try to completely clean up your desk and give all things a fixed place and remove the unnecessary items. After all, a clean workplace means less stress, more motivation and thus better output. The only proper low-waste cleaning agent for this is, of course, BRAUZZ. all-purpose cleaner. With this 100% biodegradable and disposable plastic-free product, your workplace will shine!
