Vacationing sustainably? Here's how to do it without the hassle!

Vacation means enjoyment. Getting away for a while, discovering new places, good food and most of all: relaxation. But that doesn't mean you have to leave your sustainable habits at home. Precisely not! With a few simple adjustments, you can make your trip just a little friendlier to the planet.

And no way, we're not going to tell you how you have to travel. That's your party. But once you get there? Then these tips will come in handy:

1. Reusable is the new sexy

Plastic straws, disposable cups and plastic bags are so 2010. Put a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, cutlery set and linen bag in your luggage as standard. Saves waste and you are always prepared. Plus, you'll feel like a local instantly when you show up at the bar with your own coffee mug.

2. No liquids, no stress (and yes that fresh smell)

Nothing more irritating than a cracked shampoo bottle in your suitcase. Solution? Shampoo bars, deo bars, toothpaste tablets... Everything you need in a compact size. No liquid stress at customs, no plastic bottles, but blissful scent and fresh feeling. Eazzy peazzy.

3. Go local, eat tastier

Going on vacation to the same supermarket you have at home? Boring. Explore nearby. Local markets, bakeries and eateries. Fresher, tastier and you support local entrepreneurs. Win-win!

4. Shower like a pro (short but sweet).

A standard shower quickly consumes 10 liters of water per minute. So try to keep it a little shorter, or.... shower cozily with two? 😉 And choose grooming products that are biodegradable. Especially handy if you go camping or shower outdoors.

5. Leave it more beautiful than you found it 💛.

Okay, this may sound like something your grandmother would say - but she was right. Take a small garbage bag with you on your walk and pick up a can. Sort your trash on vacation just like you do at home. And leave that campsite, cabin or hotel room cleaner than you found it.
